COVID-19 Precautions: The Department of Health recommends that all employees are fully vaccinated (both vaccinations for Pfizer and Moderna and one vaccination for Johnson & Johnson as well as the booster), unvaccinated staff must be routinely tested and must wear face coverings and social distance. Fully vaccinated staff do not need to be routinely tested.

Job Summary:

Duties include operating and maintaining the Senior Citizen Program transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and client courtesy; providing transportation services for elderly citizens; will help prepare and package meals for delivery to homebound participants. Ensures inside and outside of vehicle are properly cleaned and is fueled on an ongoing basis; keeps interior of vehicle neat and orderly; ensures that periodic vehicle maintenance is reported and completed. Keeps service log, located in van, updated daily, records meal temperature, and vehicle inspections. Also completes route sheets daily; documenting activity and number of meals delivered. Provides a communication link between clients and staff and performs various tasks relating to the transport of passengers in transportation vans. Provides other services as requested by management when not engaged in transportation service. Treats all guests, customers, and other persons in a courteous friendly and professional manner.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics:

  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Ability to see details at a distance and at close range.
  • Ability to express self, in English, in a clear, concise, understandable manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred ~ Not mandatory.
  • Certification of First Aide and CPR within the first two (2) months of date of hire and updated as necessary.
  • As a condition of employment, must meet SNMCAC’s vehicle liability insurance standards (refer to the Human Resources Policy Handbook) in effect at the time of hire and remain insurable during employment with SNMCAC.
